Release the inner child.

Hello. Isn't it fun to step outside the box occasionally? To do something silly, to do something unexpected. Life can become monotonous, if we let it. Boredom is a disease we can do without. I am constantly hitting the 'refresh page' button, because I want to see what has changed. I want new things to happen.

The older I get the dafter I become. The thoughts that pop into my head constantly amaze me. The coloured text made some of you smile, that was my intention, you got my drift. Sadly it didn't work on all gadgets, some of you didn't see it because of the device you were viewing on. Things move forward, my old computer still works on Chrome and Windows, sorry, I'm not going to chuck it just yet. I don't feel the need to keep up with technology. There is too much going on in my head, being creative on a computer is just one of the many ways I like to experiment.

Here's a question, how often do you feel the need to go off the rails? To do something out of the ordinary, to become a kid again? Why do we have to behave like sensible adults when it's much more fun being silly? I think we should have a new annual celebration day, like a Totally Bonkers Day, when everyone lets go of their inhibitions.

I love flash mobs. Go Granny.

Thanks for popping in, we'll catch up soon.

Fun with Lego.

Hello. It's business as usual here at Tightwad Towers over the Easter period. More photo's in the pipeline, more shopping bags to make, more walking to do, and some lounging in the garden when the sun comes out. I did a yellow sticker shop on Wednesday night and struck lucky, the fridge is full. I had intended to do a £40 shop so I could use a £6 off voucher, but after filling the trolley with reductions, which only came to £9 something, I knew I would have no chance of reaching the target. No point in wandering round the shop trying to decide what to buy when I didn't actually need anything else.
Here are the last few photo's from my visit to Hull on Tuesday. I remember Lego as being quite basic when I was young, it consisted of bricks and flat pieces to stick the bricks onto. Nowadays there is a lot more variety in the shapes it comes in, and you can construct almost anything with it, including flowers. The daffodil display was very popular, especially with the kids who could meander between them and pretend to water them with the Lego watering can.

Have a little titter at this.

The City of Culture exhibits are spread out in different locations, so the Land Train was handy for those who would rather ride than walk.

Dancing fountains are advertised as being in the city centre but I couldn't find them. I asked a volunteer who said that they had done a trial run and the drainage was found to have a problem, so they are under repair at the moment. They should be working soon. There are cars filled with sand down at The deep, but I didn't have time to go and see them, maybe next time.

Enjoy your weekend, we'll catch up soon.

Thanks for Nothing by Jack Dee. Book review.

Hello. Jack Dee always makes me titter so when I saw this book in the library I thought it would be an interesting read. I love his deadpan look, and his sarcastic observational comedy. It was first published in 2009, and covers his early life of disastrous day jobs, and finishes when he finally makes it as a paid stand up comedian on the comedy circuit.
Jack talks about many of his unskilled jobs, including working in an artificial leg factory, delivering incontinence pads, waiting at tables and bar work. As I was reading it I could hear his voice in my head. He shares his views on everything, from personal trainers, boutique hotels, to people who hold their cutlery the wrong way. He is a brilliant story teller and made me laugh out loud.
At the back of the book, as usual, is the index page. A typical example of Jack humour, just two words. . You've got to laugh at that, haven't you.

It's a funny book if you like Jack Dee humour. You might like to look at this funny clip from yoootooob

Call in when passing.

Good morning. A quick one before I go off to the Bowls Club for a coffee morning. If the grass is not too wet they will allow visitors to have a go at bowls. I love ten pin bowling but have never tried bowls on a green before.
Last night was a big success, the ladies loved my talk, lots of laughs, and they were very interested in my arts and crafts made from recycled materials. I suspect one or two of them might be having a go at knitting plastic yarn made from carrier bags, or fusing the plastic inners of cereal boxes to create shopping bags. After the singing of Jerusalem (this tradition has almost fizzled out now), and the notices read, it was my turn. Pay attention ladies.
The journey home took me past Asda, and you know my mantra, 'Pop in when passing, worth a look.' Look what I found, I spent 8p on bananas, pears, and prepared veg (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, leeks, carrots). It needs closer inspection but a lot of it is edible, had to throw away half a banana which was blacker than black. Four and a half bananas at 2p is an incredible bargain. I will trim up the veg and cook it today.

Got to dash, I want to walk to the bowls club as it's on my walking route so I can do two jobs in one. Thanks for popping in. We'll catch up soon.

Guess the magic word

Hello. I've been making more shopping bags to sell on our cat stall at our Village Fete next month. Fourteen in total now, blues, reds, and greens. It's very strong fabric, and waterproof, they will last for ages.
I have one bag to give away to a lucky winner. All you gave to do is include the magic word in your comment. I did have it written down somewhere, but it has disappeared. It was on this piece of paper, but I can't see it. Well that's strange. Anyway, you'll have to guess what the word is, so have a go, and the one to guess it correctly wins a bag. Easy innit  ;o) Closing date Wednesday morning 1st June at 10am BST.
